There are Two Ways to Pay Your Bill　料金の払い方は2つあります
- At a convenience store or bank　コンビニや銀行で払う場合
- Direct withdrawal from bank account　銀行口座から自動で引き落とす場合

How Payment is Calculated　料金の計算について

Usage fees for water supply and sewage service are billed together and should be paid at the same time. The amount of money you pay depends on the amount of water you use. Each bill begins with a standard fee (基本料金　kihon ryōkin) that must be paid regardless of how much water you use. The rest of your bill is calculated based on meter size and amount of water used. There are Two Methods of Paying your Water Bill　料金の払い方は2つあります

*You must pay your water bill by the specified due date. If you do not pay your water bill on time, your water service might be cancelled.

※水道料金を払うには期限があります。払わないと、水が止まります。必ず期限を守って払ってください。

1.Pay Your Bill at a Bank or Convenience Store　コンビニや銀行などで払います。

Once every two months, a "Notice of Water Usage" (水道使用水量のお知らせ　suidō shiyō suiryō no oshirase) will be delivered to your home. This is NOT your bill. You cannot use this to pay your fees.
At a later date, your bill (納付書　nōfusho) will be delivered.
Take the bill (納付書　nōfusho) to a bank or convenience store and pay at the counter.

2ヶ月に1回、「水道使用水量のお知らせ」が届きます。これはお知らせだけです。これを使って料金を払うことができません。
その後、「納付書」が届きます。
「納付書」を持ってコンビニや銀行などに行って、払ってください。

2.Direct Withdrawal From Your Bank Account　銀行口座から料金を自動で引き落とします。（口座振替　kōza furikae）

You must sign up for direct withdrawal service. See Applying for Direct Withdrawal for details.
Once every two months, a "Notice of Water Usage" (水道使用水量のお知らせ) will be delivered to your home. A confirmation of payment (口座振替済通知書　kōza furikaezumi tsūchisho) will be printed on the bottom. This indicates that the money has been withdrawn from your account.
The date of withdrawal varies by neighborhood. See Billing and Payment Schedule for details.

* There is an example of the "Notice of Water Usage" and confirmation of payment. Click on the link above the image for a detailed explanation. If you choose to pay by direct withdrawal, you will not receive a bill (納付書). The amount owed will be automatically taken from your account.

申し込みが必要です。下に申し込みの方法が書いてあります。

Applying for Direct Withdrawal

You can apply for direct withdrawal directly from the Water Board Payment Center or at one of the banking institutions listed below.

Things to bring with you

Your bank record book (預金通帳　yokin tsūchō)
Your personal seal (inkan) that you used to open your bank account
A Notice of Water Usage or a receipt from a previous payment made at a bank or convenience store.

口座振替で水道料金を払いたいとき、下の銀行など金融機関か水道料金センターの窓口に来てください。

通帳に使っている印鑑
「水道使用水量のお知らせ」または前のとき払った分の「領収書」

Billing and Payment Schedule　メーター検針と料金の払うスケジュール

Once every two months, someone from the waterboard will visit your home to check your meter. This is called 検針(kenshin). They will check how much water you have used during the current period and calculate how much water you have used.
Your water bill will be calculated after this reading. You will be required to pay fees 6 times a year.
You will receive a "Notice of Water Usage" (水道使用水量のお知らせ　suidō shiyō suiryō no oshirase). Those paying at the bank or convenience store will later receive their bill (納付書　nōfusho). see above for details.
If you fail to pay your water bill on time, your water service will be shut off. Please be sure to pay your bill on time.
