【The Application Period Has Concluded】21st Lifelong Learning Award(第21回「生涯学習賞」表彰候補者の推薦募集)

Kameoka City established the "Lifelong Learning Award" in 2001 with the philosophy of the Kameoka Lifelong Learning City Declaration.

Kameoka continues to strive towards making " a city that nurtures a rich heart and culture" a reality.

We hope to contribute to the further cultivation of citizen's awareness for lifelong learning along with improving cultural standards.

Award Enactment Outline

1.Awards

  • Grand Award for the Promotion of Lifelong Learning 『Ishida Baigan Award』
  • Award for the Promotion of an Inclusive Society 『Ueda Masaaki Award』
  • Award for the Encouragement of Lifelong Learning

2.Award Eligibility

The awards shall be presented to individuals or groups who have made considerable contributions to the promotion of lifelong learning not limited domestically but also internationally.

3.Award Criteria

Grand Award for the Promotion of Lifelong Learning 『Ishida Baigan Award』

  1. Prominent contributions in helping to realize the importance of one's state of mind, and tremendous efforts in the rediscovery of the depth of the mind.
  2. Prominent achievements in global or local activities over a long period of study and research.
  3. Development of advanced, unique forms of investigation and/or research projects that have become a model to others.

Award for Promotion of an Inclusive Society 『Ueda Masaaki Award』

  1. Heavily invested in the creative production of new ideas and is respectful towards the mutual differences between one another.
  2. Involvement in the implementation of projects and activities that helps to build a coexistent society through lifelong learning activities. 
  3. Development of advanced, unique projects that have become a model to others.

Award for the Encouragement of Lifelong Learning

  1. Involved in city growth projects through lifelong learning over a long period of time and activities that have roots in the community. 
  2. Involvement in activities that are tied to reinvigorating and upgrading community image through lifelong learning.
  3. Development of advanced, unique projects that have become a model to others.

4.Recipient Selection

Deliberations will be made by the Lifelong Learning Award Selection Committee.

5.Award Process

Firstly, the awards and prizes will be presented.

Award recipients, organizations, and groups will then be invited to Kameoka where the award ceremony will be held.

Finally, a speech will be delivered by the recipient of the Grand Award for the Promotion of Lifelong Learning 『Ishida Baigan Award』 regarding the work that they have done.

 

【Additional Information】

*Kameoka City will cover the cost of travel for award recipients; this is limited to domestic travel only.

*The recipient of the Grand Award for the Promotion of Lifelong Learning will give a speech at Galleria Kameoka (a facility for lifelong learning located in Kameoka City).

However, depending on the spread of COVID-19, there may be the possibility that their speech will be delivered online or that the ceremony will be postponed altogether.

We will come to a comprehensive decision regarding the ceremony after discussions between the recipient and our staff.

Furthermore, since this speech is mainly targeted towards the citizens of Kameoka, the speech shall be held in Japanese. If for any reason the recipient is unable to deliver their speech, someone who is familiar with the activities of the recipient may deliver the speech in their stead.

6.Announcement of the Recipients

Around the start of November 2021(scheduled)

7.Award Period

To be coordinated with the award recipients after they have been announced.

Grand Award for the Promotion of Lifelong Learning 『Ishida Baigan Award』Certificate and 1,000,000 JPY

Award for the Promotion of an Inclusive Society 『Ueda Masaaki Award』Certificate and 300,000 JPY

Award for the Encouragement of Lifelong LearningCertificate and 300,000 JPY

9.Recommendation Procedure

The following Recommendation Document must be filled out, submitted and received by Tuesday August 31st 2021【No Exceptions】
